ESPN: Congress Seeks WWE Drug Test Records
July 27th, 2007 by Brian Cantor
Congress interested in WWE’s Wellness Policy.
In the wake of the Chris Benoit Family tragedy, the United States Congress is seeking records of WWE’s drug-testing policy, reports ESPN.
“The tragic deaths of World Wrestling Entertainment star Chris Benoit and his family have raised questions about reports of widespread use of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs by professional wrestlers,” wrote Representative Henry Waxman, chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
“These allegations — which include first-hand reports of steroid use by prominent former wrestlers — have swirled around the WWE for over a decade. Investigations by journalists have described a culture of performance-enhancing drug use in professional wrestling, high fatality rates among young professional wrestlers, and an inability or unwillingness of WWE to address these problems.”
Waxman, joined by the Committee’s ranking minority member Tom Davis, argued “WWE has a responsibility to do everything possible to eliminate the use of performance-enhancing drugs — or the perception of such use — by its wrestlers.”
Similar to the request for MLB records, Congress seeks extensive information on WWE’s Wellness Policy. It wants a list of drugs banned under the policy, information on the entity that conducts testing, the number of tests per year, the policy regarding positive tests, statistics on positive tests and punishments and information on WWE’s investigations into wrestler deaths and drug use.
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has until August 24 to comply.

Drug Test Information Says
Quite frankly, it seems to me that has more to do with drug test information Sunday than yesterday. The drug test information is just not as relevant to as I had originally thought….
