Benoit News: Additional Text Messages?, Doctor Raided, Wikipedia

June 28th, 2007 by Brian Cantor

Tons of Benoit updates.

– According to the New York Daily News, the Chris Benoit-penned text messages WWE.com publicly released were not the only ones he sent. The paper cites sources in saying that Benoit was sending friends Bible passages and sections of his will.

– Authorities raided the office of Dr. Phil Astin, who cared for Benoit, in search of medical records for the wrestler.

– The fact that the Chris Benoit Wikipedia entry was changed early Monday to mention the death of his wife Nancy, despite the fact that the bodies of Chris, Nancy and Daniel had not been discovered until later that day, has led some reporters to question whether someone knew about the deaths in advance. The fact that the editor’s IP address was traced Stamford, CT—home to WWE headquarters—makes things even more bizarre.

While WWE’s attorney did not categorically rule out the possibility that Benoit informed friends not employed by WWE of what he had apparently done to his wife, the general belief is that the Wikipedia entry was either a prank or premature speculation by someone not in the loop.
