Lawler Off Show With Hogan

A “Big” replacement is named!

Jerry Lawler confirmed at a press conference for the PMG Clash of the Legends event that he was forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout with Hulk Hogan.

According to Lawler, WWE informed him that he, as a regular on the NBC Universal-broadcast “Monday Night RAW,” could not work an event that would be taped for VH-1. The plan has long been for footage from the Hogan-Lawler match to be used on the “Hogan Knows Best” reality show; Lawler’s relationship with WWE—and WWE’s relationship with NBC—apparently prohibits him from working the match.

Hogan later added that WWE also refused to let Lawler work the show for its own intellectual property reasons. The Hulkster, who argued that WWE’s decision was a personal attack on him, also noted that WWE has apparently stopped allowing WWE talent from appearing on Memphis Wrestling events.

Nonetheless, Hogan will still wrestle on the show. His opponent will be Paul “The Great” Wight, formerly known to WWE fans as The Big Show.
