More News On Matches Set For WWE WrestleMania
January 28th, 2007 by Brian Cantor
By winning the Royal Rumble, Undertaker earned himself a WrestleMania title shot. He will face Batista, as The Animal puts his title on the line against Undertaker’s WrestleMania winning streak.
There was legitimate talk several months ago of having Batista go over and put an end to Taker’s tradition of victory at WrestleMania. Whether or not WWE will go through with that plan remains to be seen.
According to the Wrestling-Observer Newsletter, WWE is strongly leaning in the direction of a John Cena vs. Edge vs. Randy Orton main-event from the RAW brand, which would mean Shawn Michaels is out of the running for a title shot. There has been talk of utilizing Michaels in the Trump vs. McMahon feud (Michaels would be represented by Trump; his opponent Booker T would be represented by Vince McMahon).
As for Hulk Hogan, since the sought match with Big Show does not appear likely, he is now slated to face Shane McMahon. The Great Khali will appear in McMahon’s corner.
A Money-In-The-Bank Ladder Match is also expected.
