Chris Jericho won’t be the next Stacy Keibler
Former WWE Champion Chris Jericho’s venture into the mainstream was short-lived; Y2J was the first celebrity contestant eliminated from FOX’s “Celebrity Duets.”
Despite his recording experience as Fozzy’s lead singer, Jericho could not match the talent of the celebrity pool consisting of names like Alfonso Ribiero and Lea Thompson.
Jericho received a lukewarm response from the judges for his take on “Mendocino County Line” with country music star Lee Ann Womack. “Signed, Sealed and Delivered,” his duet with Peter Frampton, played to a much more favorable reaction from the judges, but it wasn’t enough to push him through to the next round of the competition.
Carly Patterson was the last contestant to be pushed through to the next round; she and Jericho were presumably the judges’ choices for “worst two” of the night.
“Queer Eye”’s Jai Rodriguez emerged as the judges’ favorite, but beginning next week, elimination power will be in the hands of at-home voters.
