Backstage at a recent TNA show, BG James approached TNA management about a raise. His argument was that since he possesses star quality equal to that of Kip James, he should be receiving the same pay (at the time, he was receiving $1,000 a show while Kip received $1,500 per iMPACT! episode and $2,500 per PPV).
TNA refused, however, citing the fact that it has lost $24 million and cannot afford additional expenses at this time.
Nonetheless, to accomodate the demands, TNA laid out a proposition: it would give BG the raise by taking the money from Kip’s salary. All BG would have to do is tell Kip James why his salary was being cut, and the deal would go through.
Outraged by that offer, BG James rejected the deal and threatened to quit. TNA then told Kip James that if BG quit, he would be released as they did not want him as a singles performer.
Eventually, the parties worked out a deal whereby Kip James and BG James would receive an equal $1,250 for iMPACT! tapings and $1,750 for PPVs.
